Because they can be traded to a collector for an item worth 125 (5 tusks). Makes them worth 25g each even if merchant only pays 8g.

i was thinking they were taking the ascalon bows and the staves and salvaging them for wood, don't know if this would be productive though

You can't salvage collector items or quest rewards.

seems like so little money to be made say 100 tusks= 1.5k to buy
100 tusks = 25 collecter items X 125=2.5k
Net Gain = 1k so kinda umm yea

Post Troll Tusks

What about when we get to the easter event. Like Christmas there may be special collectors in droknar offering special items for collectable items. i cannot remember if they had a christmas collector dealing in troll tusks but they may and we may get another version of candy canes or something else that people can sell for a profit.

Just a thought

They're just an easy way to double (or nearly double) your investment.

Um from the halloween to christmas event, they were same items needed both times. Seeing Factions is coming, may be a diffrent thing collectors want on either side, Factions or Prophecies.

Troll Tusks 250 -> 50 collector x 125 -> 6 k profit.

I myself sell the tusks in bundles to a 18-20 gold range .

Or better yet, cut out the middle man and farm for gold, items, and tusks yourself.

It's relatively far actually, takes some skill and luck, i have some of the second one . I made it but had to click like crazy as i still had a few monsters on my tail killing me while i traded my tusks in. So i think its not really worth it to bother running to the collector, personally i keep giving them to any guild member short on money and is willing to make the trip.

I??ve never bought tusk, but i??ve used to farm trolls, and i??ve traded them for items.
The run is very fast and easy, takes 2 minutes or less, if u have farmed the tusks the profit will be near 3,4k each run , if u buy the tusks the profit will be near 2k each run. In my opinion its a very nice profit for 2 minutes, probably someone will come and tell:

"OMG in 2 minutes i can farm 7243678K"

Ok, nice to u

After I farmed trolls, I ran to the collector. It isn't difficult at all the get to him. I had at least 200+ tusks with me. I didn't even use my warrior to get to him, but my ranger instead. Don't be lazy if you don't know where the collector is. Saying that it isn't worth it because you didn't take the time to look the collector up is unreasonable and unexplicable.
I did the work for you; this time and this time only.
